Description

Launched in March 1850, Household Words was an English two-penny weekly magazine of original short fiction and crusading social journalism, edited by Charles Dickens. It took its name from the line in Shakespeare's Henry V: "Familiar in his mouth as household words." This first edition (1854/55) contains the first installment of 'Hard Times which was published in 20 consecutive issues. Contemporary half-calf binding and original marbled boards (slightly rubbed). Fine, some staining to a few pages. A rare copy.
